does anyone use any kind of specific natural-based moisturizer after swimming? i'm doing four days/week in the pool and it's taking a toll.

I've found that the combination of swimming pools and cold Alaska winters left me with dry, scaly skin. Here's what worked for me:

    * get rid of the bar soap. I've yet to find a bar (even glycerine) that wasn't drying after a swim. Instead, I used body wash and a bath pouf, which helped exfoliate my skin a bit as well.
    * moisturize in the shower. Several companies make an in-shower moisturizer. Just turn off the water, rub it it thoroughly, then turn the water back on and rinse. Look for these in the shower gel area, not moisturizer (usually), brand names are Caress, Oil of Olay and Suave.
    * add extra moisture if you need it. If these steps aren't enough, try applying a body butter after drying off.

I've also heard good things about something by Aveeno - some kind of oatmeal stuff. The daily moisturizer? Yeah - try that.

this was told to me by someone who has the added bonus of a chlorine allergy - bleah!

thanks. i dropped the bar soap along time ago when i realized i have to clean my shower 1/3 amount of times w/ liquid soap.

i'll check out some moisturizers...i should anyway since i live in the desert of Nevada.

I wanted something to use after/during my shower directly after my swim....

I use the same shampoo I use on my head to wash the rest of me. After all, it's designed to remove chlorine. If I'm at the pool I use some kind of body cream to moisturize. If I am at home I use an almond oil based bath oil on wet skin. Let it sink in a few minutes then gently dry with a towel.
